{"id":11897,"date":"2023-08-18T00:01:13","date_gmt":"2023-08-17T21:01:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.na-greece.gr\/?post_type=spad&#038;p=11897"},"modified":"2023-08-12T23:56:08","modified_gmt":"2023-08-12T20:56:08","slug":"18-avgoustou-i-epimoni-apodidei-karpous","status":"publish","type":"spad","link":"https:\/\/www.na-greece.gr\/en\/spad\/18-avgoustou-i-epimoni-apodidei-karpous\/","title":{"rendered":"AUGUST 18 | Persistence pays off"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><b>Taking care of our spiritual state is like cleaning the house: If we want the benefit, the work must be continuous.<\/b><\/p>\n<p><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Living Clean, Chapter 1, \u201cA Vision of Hope\u201d<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p><b>\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">We experience peace of mind and freedom when we work systematically on our spiritual state. We get into a rhythm of daily inventories, prayer and contemplation, and helping other addicts. The results are evident and it feels great to be comfortable in our own skin, connected to a Higher Power and to others in recovery. It&#039;s a beautiful thing \u2013 until we sabotage it!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Just as it&#039;s easier to keep a house in order after we&#039;ve done a thorough cleaning, consistent work in our recovery yields consistently good results. And yet, it&#039;s so incredibly easy to skip our daily inventory and before we know it, several days or weeks or months have passed. It&#039;s no surprise when we lose perspective and our lives become unmanageable again. We sit, reluctantly, and repeat our tenth step. A sense of relief returns. Maybe next time we&#039;ll only wait a few days before sitting down to write. Progress!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">We may not be born to persevere, but with practice we get better at it. We can start again at any time. We don&#039;t need to despair before we look for solutions - today, we can be inspired to do the work of ongoing recovery. We notice the sense of ease we enjoy when we remain immersed in the process. We put one foot in front of the other and persevere.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Each of us develops a routine that works for us, built from the suggestions shared by the experiences of others. \u201cWhen I see a member struggling, I always tell them that my best days start with a quick prayer before my feet hit the floor,\u201d shared one member. Another member shared his approach to meditation: &quot;A few deep breaths in the shower or a long walk after dinner is enough for me.&quot; The trick is to stick with it and, when that fails, go back to it.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n<p><b>I will assess my mental state today.
