Having the patience to discuss or wait until the next meeting before making a decision saves energy and actions lost in the consequences of hasty decisions.<\/strong><\/p>\n Our Guiding Principles, Tradition Two, \u201cFor Groups\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n The services we do in NA are important. When we serve well, more addicts will have the opportunity to hear our message and find recovery. What we do is huge for the lives of drug addicts. This feeling of needing to help other addicts can help us greatly in ministering properly. We strive to be efficient, thorough and creative in our actions. After all, lives are at stake.<\/span><\/p>\n In our quest to be fast, we run the risk of making mistakes. Adhering to our Traditions, the laws of the region and classical logic, can require careful planning, thought and, sometimes, long hours of discussion. Endless, at first glance, debates can test what we call "principles before personalities". The more complex things become, the harder it is to communicate well.<\/span><\/p>\n We want answers and solutions as soon as possible. If an idea requires more time and thought than we're willing to give, we either reject it immediately, or just do it without much analysis. In both cases, we are doing ourselves - and NA - a disservice. Rejecting a good idea that we don't want to study can mean we miss out on reaching more addicts. Putting a rough idea into practice can lead to unexpected complications or changing consequences.<\/span><\/p>\n Patience is more than just waiting for things\u2014it's a commitment to being present throughout the process. When we devote time and spiritual energy to difficult conversations\u2014even when they're downright boring\u2014we honor ourselves, other trusted servants, and addicts who haven't heard our message yet.<\/span><\/p>\n <\/p>\n Patience is more than just waiting for something to happen.
