April 30 / God does for us...

"In the long run recovery depends on our relationship with a loving God who cares for us and will do what is impossible for us to do for ourselves."
Main Text, p. 114

Very often we hear in gatherings that "God does for us what we cannot do for ourselves." Sometimes we can get stuck in our recovery feeling powerless, afraid, or unwilling to make those decisions we know are necessary to move forward. Maybe we can't end a relationship that isn't working anymore. Or maybe our work has already become a field of intense conflict. We may feel that we need to find a new supporter, but we are afraid to enter into this process. With the intervention of our Higher Power, unexpected changes can occur, precisely in the problem that we could not do anything about it.

Sometimes we let ourselves get stuck in a problem instead of moving towards the solution. It is then that we often realize that our Higher Power is doing for us what we cannot do for ourselves. Maybe our partner decides to end the relationship. We may be fired or put on reserve. Or maybe the person who supports us tells us that he cannot continue this relationship with us, and we are thus forced to look for someone else.

Sometimes what happens in our life causes us fear because changes often scare us. But we also hear that "God never closes a door without opening another". As we move forward in faith, our Higher Power always gives us what we need. Our recovery is strengthened through these changes.

Just for today

I trust the God of my understanding to do for me what I cannot do for myself.
