June 30 / Maintaining the foundation of our lives

"The faith we now develop will be a source of courage for us in the future."
Main Text, p. 110

In our life we have some bases and on them we build everything else. When we drank the basis of our life was the use and it affected everything we did. When we decided that recovery was important to us, we began to focus our energy there. As a result, our whole life changed. To maintain this new way of life, we need to maintain the foundation upon which it is built: our recovery plan.

As we stay clean and our lifestyles change, so do our priorities. Work and studies can become important to us because they improve the quality of our lives. And with some new relationships we may feel excitement and find mutual support. However, we must always remember that our recovery plan is the foundation upon which our new life rests. We must daily renew our commitment to recovery, and it must always remain our first priority.

Just for today

I want to continue to enjoy the life I found in recovery. Today I will do my best to maintain that foundation.
