The group we usually go to is very important to us. Speaking of which, where would we be now if there wasn't a NA team to go to? Our team sometimes organizes excursions and other events. Often, members of a group hang out, go to the cinema or somewhere else together. We all already have good friends in our team and we wouldn't change that for anything in the world.
Sometimes, though, we as a group need to take stock of whether we are fulfilling our primary purpose, to deliver the message to the still-suffering addict. Sometimes when we go to gatherings, we happen to know almost everyone and we start laughing and joking. And the newcomers? Did we forget to reach out to new members who may be sitting in a corner cowering and afraid? Do we remember to welcome visitors to open gatherings too?
The love that exists in the rooms of Narcotics Anonymous helps us recover from addiction. But since we have remained pure, we must remember to give to others what has been so generously given to us. We need to reach out to the addict who is still suffering. Speaking of which, "the newcomer is the most important person in any gathering."
