The concept of "just for today" comforts us. If we try to live in the past, we may be torn apart by the pain and turmoil caused by our memories. The lessons learned from using are not the "teachers" that will lead us to recovery. When we live for tomorrow, we move forward with fear. We don't know what the future holds and uncertainty brings worry. When we don't focus on today, life scares us.
When we live in the moment, we feel free. Right now, we are safe. We don't use and have everything we need. In essence, life happens in the here and now. The past is gone and the future has not yet come; no matter how much we worry, that does not change. Today, we can enjoy our recovery right now.
