When we first came to NA some of us wanted it all here and now. We wanted material goods, we wanted peace, happy relationships, friends, intimacy with our sponsor – all the things that other people had gained after months or years of working the Steps and living life on its terms.
We learned the hard way that only working with the Steps brings peace to our lives. Maybe we get a new car when we go to work every day and when we try to "apply the principles to all our affairs", even our business ones. Healthy relationships only come after hard work and as long as we are willing to communicate with others. We get closer to our supporter when we share with them both our difficulties and our good times.
In Narcotics Anonymous we have found a path that leads to a better way of life. However, to reach our destination we need to make the necessary effort.
