May 8 / In the student's place

"We understood that we are not obliged to always have the answers, because this is how we can learn and learn to have quality in our new life."
Main Text, p. 111

In a sense, addiction is a very good teacher. It will certainly teach us humility, even if it teaches us nothing else. We hear they say that with the way of thinking we had, the result was to come to the rooms. Now, we're here to find out.

The NA sisterhood is the most appropriate learning environment for a recovering drug addict. At gatherings we don't feel stupid. Instead, we meet people who have been in the same position as us and have found a new way. All we need to do is admit that we don't have all the answers and listen to others share what has worked for them.

We have a lot to learn as recovering addicts, but also as people in general. Other recovering addicts, as well as non-substance addicts, have a lot to teach us about what works and what doesn't. As long as we remain in the student's shoes, we can benefit from the experience of others.

Only for today

I'll admit I don't have all the answers. I will seek and listen to the experience of others to get the answers I need.
